Northern Ontario Writers

Zoom (link sent to NOWW members by email)
For years now, we have been holding readings throughout the fall and winter sessions. COVID meant we had to switch to Zoom, but that led to unforeseen benefits. For example, Zoom allows us to have readings from NOWW members who do not live in the city or who for whatever reason find it challenging to attend in-person readings. We’ve decided to host both in-person and Zoom readings this year so that more people can join us.

The readings are a wonderful opportunity to listen to fellow NOWW members read from their work, whether these are new members who have just begun putting their thoughts on paper and are willing to share with us, or long-time members with their polished, published manuscripts.

Please join us to celebrate the writers of Northern Ontario!

Reading, presentation and conversation

The Art of Visual Storytelling: How picture books and graphic novels are co-created

Tuesday November 7
7pm - 9pm
Lakehead University
William H. Buset Centre for Music and Visual Arts
FREE PARKING on campus
Join award-winning, best-selling and internationally published creators of illustrated books for a presentation and conversation about how art and text work together to tell a story. Authors Adrian Lysenko and Jean E. Pendziwol along with illustrators Todd Stewart and Olivia Amoah will reference their own work and experience to discuss how illustrators and writers collaborate, the role of publishers in the creative process and where graphic novels and picture books fit in today's publishing market. Audience members are encouraged to bring questions for the panel.
